The original design specification : rubber, sadly breaks down over time. The deterioration increases with use and wear especially if you drive your car in the rain or have radial tyres! A sign of rubber deterioration is excessive play in the steering response. These cars originally had very responsive steering and should be great fun to drive, rally and race! Bush replacement is my first answer to the FAQ “my steering feels funny”.
